Journey21 Receives Grant from Friends of Autism

Oconomowoc, WI - Friends of Autism (FOA) recently made the largest grant in its history when it awarded $175,000 to Journey21, a new nonprofit based in Oconomowoc, that serves adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) including autism.

 Journey21 was created several years ago by two families who were seeking options for adults with IDD and their families. They were looking for new ways to engage their daughters and sons in clubs and activities, educational programs, employment skill and career building, and a living community. Now based on Old School House Road in Oconomowoc in its new 10,000 square foot Enrichment Center, Journey21 currently serves 130 people in its various programs.

FOA is a 25-year-old nonprofit organization that was founded by Oconomowoc residents Karen and John Sauer. The group, which has funded a wide range of programs, research, speaker series’ by raising funds from an annual golf outing, bowl-a-thon, and a run/walk. The annual golf outing will take place at Ironwood Country Club on August 21st.
